The paper “Inflation and Valuation Practice: German Evidence” in Schmalenbach Journal of Business Research (2023) by Andreas Schüler and Sebastian Wünsche analyses how valuation practice in Germany takes inflation into account, in particular its influence on the terminal value.
The study is based on a sample of 263 valuation reports by German auditors with valuations between 2000 and 2021. Most of the reports aim to determine the price per share to compensate minority shareholders in the event of a squeeze-out.
